100% Wool Felt top and bottom: The wool felt we are using now is 100% wool and is the best we have ever used.
Shaped to the horses back: Our pads are shaped to match a horse's back and will conform to fit individual horse and saddle combinations.
Vented Channel down the center of the pad: This is probably the biggest advantage our pads have over other popular saddle pads on the market. The channel down the top center reduces pressure on the spine of the horse while ventilation holes punched down the center allow for heat to escape.
Layer of closed cell foam: We can make a solid wool felt pad if custom ordered, but our standard pads have a layer of closed cell foam in between the bottom layer of wool felt and the center core. This blocks sweat from getting up into the core making it easier to keep clean and also provides extra shock absorption.
Constructed in layers: We make our pads in layers with a layer of wool felt on top and bottom with a center core in the middle. This creates the channel down the center of the pad and also reduces bulk underneath your legs resulting in better contact with your horse.
Custom options are nearly endless. We have our standard patterns and sizes, but we can make you a pad however you want it. Don't hesitate to inquire about ideas you might have.
The difference in the pad series is what makes up the center core of the pad. We make our pads in layers with a layer of wool felt on top and bottom with a core in the center. This gives our pads the advantages of wool felt on top and bottom and allows us to use more effective cushioning and shock absorbing materials in the center. It also allows us to make the pad thinner down the center top line which raises the pad up off the spine of the horse reducing pressure on the spine.
The 2000 series has been our most popular pad. The core is made up of poly felt and closed cell foam. While we can use wool felt for the core if specified, we like the poly felt because it reduces costs, stays effective longer than wool felt, and we feel it is actually better at evening out pressure from the saddle, The poly felt will not mat down and will conform to both the saddle and horses back with the fibers reshaping as needed each time it is used. A thin layer of closed cell foam is added to block sweat and dirt from getting up into the core and to provide extra shock absorption.
The 3000 series is made up of closed cell foam and open cell memory foam. The memory foam is great for relieving pressure points and is a great shock absorber. We encase the memory foam with closed cell foam to protect it from moisture. The memory foam will reshape each time it is used making it a great pad for riding different horses and/or saddles and also provides better shock absorption than the 2000 series.
